Its main character was a political “fixer” who cleaned up the messes of Washington elite, but she couldn’t shake her complicated past. There was betrayal, death, a secret White House love affair, and sex scandals involving the president’s ex-wife.
Rhimes was the mastermind behind the show, and she kept fans coming back with jaw-dropping plots. The series even tackled controversial issues like racism, same-sex marriage, and abortion in its seven seasons on the air. Scandal also became the first major TV show to feature an African-American lead since Get Christie Love! in 1974.
